This year the Southern California Home Brewers Festival was held at Vail Lake Resort in Temecula, CA. the weekend of May 2nd, 2015. VIBE members traveled down to Temecula to set up the booth where 13 rotating taps featured craft brews from VIBE members.
Some notable beer style standouts from VIBE not found in other booths at the festival were a Milk Stout with Jameson Whiskey & Oak, a Gratzer, a Maple Bacon Brown Ale, and a Chocolate Hop Stout. A couple of our most popular choices were a Stone Fruit & Citrus Pale Ale and a Black Cherry Cider.
VIBE hosted an ‘Hour of Sour’ the brainchild of VIBE President Andy Carter, who kicked off what turned out to be a very exciting 60 minutes with the striking of ‘THE GONG’.
VIBE featured 4 Kegs of Sours and 12-15 assorted bottled Sours brought by VIBE members. Among the many offerings during the Hour of Sour were VIBE’s 3 year old barrel aged sour the ‘Cuvee de VIBE’ (a blend of 3 club barrel aged beers, 50% Blond, 36% red and 14% Porter) , the ‘Spontaeous Sour’ brewed at the 2013 SBCH Festival in Lake Cassitas (open fermented at the VIBE campsite) a Winter Sour, a Mixed Berry Sour, Brett Funked Red Ale w/Guava and a Sour Stout to name a few.
And who’s this HIPPIE?
Lastly, props to Andy for supplying “Free WiFi” and for the debut of the one and only electronic version of a beer selection menu at the festival. Attendee’s were able to view on the Big Screen more than just VIBE’s tap offerings, listed for each beer was the beer style, the beer description, ABV, special ingredients and the Brewer.
A good VIBE was had by all!
